Kaley Karis Smith has worked with regional companies across the country, including The Chautauqua Opera Company, Chicago Summer Opera, Opera Southwest, Opera Omaha, and Opera on the James.
This summer, she directed Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw at Chicago Summer Opera, as well as The Bremen Town Musicians and the community engagement rehearsals for As One with The Chautauqua Opera Company.
Other directing credits include: The Bremen Town Musicians at Opera on the James, The Crucible with Chicago Summer Opera, Le Nozze di Figaro at Augusta University, and remounted productions of Petunia and Jack and the Beanstalk with FBN Productions, Inc. Last spring, she was the Assistant Director and Choreographer for the world premiere of Stranger from Paradise, based on the life and poetry of William Blake with Opera Omaha.
She has also worked as a stage manager and assistant director with Opera North, Opera Saratoga, Opera Delaware, Opera Omaha, Central City Opera, Opera on the James, Opera Columbus, the University of South Carolina, and Indiana University.
This fall, she will be joining the production team of Houston Grand Opera as the 1st Assistant Stage Manager for their 2018-19 season.
